Fun with friends on a Sunday
I was planning on heading right home after church on Sunday. The plan was to go home and relax, get a few minor things done, and then prepare myself mentally for what I would have to tackle for the week ahead.
I told my daughter to pick me up from church, when my friend Jenny asked me if I wanted to go to a Steer Roast with her and her kids and another sister-in-Christ, at the middle school that was five minutes away from the church. She didn't have to wait too long for an answer. Sometimes, it's just good to break up the norm.
I wasn't sure if I would be able to eat anything that they would have since I only eat turkey and chicken as far as meat sources. My other concern was that If they had sides, would the sides be in carryout trays with the side dishes mixed in with the juice of the meat. For health purposes, I have to watch what I eat.
As God had planned it, I was able to get everything except the beef. Everything else was potatoes, corn on the cob, tomatoes, onions, whole wheat rolls, milk, and coffee. God is a God of providence, and so as providence had it, I ran into someone that God had placed on my heart, as far as the status of how he and his wife were doing. My questions were answered. The second person was a mom whose daughter used to take dance lessons with my daughter as a three-year-old. If we tried planning these things, they just wouldn't work it out. Why? God is in control.
