I finally have all of my Christmas decorations up and ready. This year, I decided on a few decorations with a focus on natural colors. I decorated the railing during Thanksgiving weekend, and the tree got put up a few days ago.
As I think about Christmas arriving, my mind goes back to seeing all the Christmas presents piled underneath the tree at my grandmother's house. This is where me, my mom, aunts, and cousins gathered to open up presents, dance, and eat. Of course, it wouldn't have been Christmas without hearing "Silent Night" by The Temptations, as well as some Nat King Cole, and my aunt singing along to the song that was her jam, "What Do The Lonely Do At Christmas".
I can remember us making a big deal out of putting up the Christmas tree. And a big deal it was! For some reason, trees were more blinged out then they are now. One year, my mom and I had a popcorn garland effect going on. Other times, we literally piled on tinsel and icicles. I'm not sure if they are even used anymore.
